It’s not a house. It’s the “Crown Jewel of Los Lagos,” and it’s hard to argue with that listing description of Eddie Murphy’s former estate just north of Sacramento, in Loomis, CA.
The estate at 9125 Vista de Lago Ct., Granite Bay, CA 95746 is listed for $12 million. Broken down into mortgage payments, that would be calculated to a pricey $47,418 per month.
Murphy, a native New Yorker who has also owned some fancy digs in New Jersey, bought this house in 1998 when he was married to his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell. In 2007, it was sold for $6.1 million to its current owner, who has apparently used the mountaintop estate set on 2.5 acres for various events, including charity fundraisers.
The massive, 12,600-square-foot home and 5,200-square-foot guesthouse are still furnished with the plush couches and chairs that suited Murphy’s wild and crazy style. It all comes with the house.
But while the interiors give an interesting throwback hint at the kind of lifestyle Murphy enjoyed while kicking back in northern California, it’s the views that put this property over the top – literally. The Sierra Nevada foothills, Folsom Lake and the Sacramento skyline are all in full view of this impressive spread.
Amenities include a Vantage lighting system, handmade artisan wall finishes, in-floor heating and elevator to extraordinary custom furnishings.
Twin curved stairways lead from the magnificent great room with floor to ceiling windows and rotunda ceiling. There’s a formal dining room, great room, sitting room with fireplace, gourmet kitchen and a butler’s pantry.
There’s also a large gym, 12-seat theater, game arcade, billiard room and a rare Schimmel Pegasus Piano.
