If you haven’t heard of Laguna Beach, I have to respectfully ask if you’ve been living under a rock. I say that jokingly, because just about everyone has heard of Laguna Beach. Even if your exposure to this upscale beach community is limited to “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County”, a popular reality TV series that ran from 2004 to 2006. I’m not sure if I would use that as an accurate depiction of Laguna Beach however.
I prefer to focus on some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, bar-none. Artists and painters have flocked here for decades for content and inspiration for their crafts. The streets are peppered with art galleries and hand-made sculptures of the finest quality. It’s no wonder why some of the most astute collectors come here in search of the perfect piece for their home or office.
One of the most popular (and expensive) hotels is the world-renown, Montage Resort. It sits on top of the cliff that overlooks one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. People will pay big bucks to stay here, and it’s really not hard to understand why. This hotel offers the finest of everything from dining to room accommodations and everything in between.
One of my favorite things about Laguna Beach are the many private coves and bays that you can go to if you’re will to make the extra effort. Some of the ones I frequent are “1000 Steps” and “Crystal Cove”. And yes, 1000 Steps, is just that- 1000 steps to get to it! But let me tell you, it’s worth every step!
I can’t remember the last time I missed going to the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts. This annual event features some of the best art exhibits ever, live music, food and my most favorite part, the “Pageant of the Masters” where masterpieces such as Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” are recreated large scale and have live models in place of the original subjects. It’s a sight to see!
