Burlington Stores, a national off-price retailer, plans to hire more than 400 workers at its distribution centers in Redlands and San Bernardino.
The New Jersey-based retailer is the latest among a string of companies looking to boost their Inland Empire workforce amid the COVID-19 pandemic as more and more consumers buy their merchandise online.
And with the holidays fast approaching, Burlington needs to fill those slots quickly.
Openings are available for a variety of positions, including warehouse workers and supervisors, shipping and receiving employees, forklift operators, traffic control agents, maintenance supervisors and inventory control analysts, among other jobs.
Wages range from $16 to $18 an hour, and some jobs include a $1,000 sign-on bonus. Available positions also include health benefits, a 401(k) plan, flexible shift choices and opportunities for performance-based bonuses.

Redlands Distribution Center – 27582 Pioneer Ave., Redlands
River Bluff Distribution Center – 27573 River Bluff Ave., Redlands
San Bernardino Distribution Center – 570 East Mill St., San Bernardino

Kohl’s recently announced it was looking to fill more than 2,500 seasonal positions at its fulfillment center in San Bernardino along with additional in-store jobs throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
DHL Supply Chain plans to hire more than 300 warehouse workers for its Inland Empire distribution centers, and Amazon is looking to hire 4,900 logistics workers in the two-county region in addition to the 1,000 employees who were recently hired at the company’s new 640,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Beaumont.
Job seekers also could be in line for a $1,000 hiring bonus at Amazon’s new Jurupa Valley sort center.
Mathieu Stevenson, CEO for the online employment resource SnagaJob, said the current labor market is tighter than pre-pandemic conditions because many displaced workers are faring better than when they were employed.
“They’re getting enhanced unemployment benefits,” he said. “Even if it’s just $300 a week, they’re still financially better off than when they were working. And with loan forbearance … people are getting more than they might otherwise have.”
Stevenson said companies are waiting longer to fill seasonal positions at their brick-and-mortar store locations, although logistics openings are going fast amid the COVID-19 health crisis.
“Warehouse jobs across the country are up 443% compared with pre-pandemic levels,” he said. “In Southern California, it’s up 337%. It’s been a fundamental shift. We’ve seen 10 years worth of e-commerce adoption in a three-month period.”
Burlington, which offers a broad selection of men’s and women’s wear, posted revenue of $7.3 billion in fiscal 2019. The company currently operates more than 735 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico.Related Articles
